Gut Permeability -- Another overlooked aspect of this Swine Flu scare is the issue of virulence as it relates to intestinal integrity or fortitude.

One of the nutritional explanations to the severity of the claimed H1N1 pandemic in Mexico is their over reliance on corn as a staple in the diet. This excess consumption can lead to a Niacin deficiency, which in turn can increase gut permeability. Why is this important?

The gut is the seat of the immune system. If it is pathologically porous and open to viral transport, viral replication can take place in areas difficult for the immune system to respond.
